Cirex is an important supplier for the car and truck industry. In this sector EDI is very common. Without EDI you are not able to do business in this market. Our client Cirex gives us some insights in the use of EDI within their organization and the collaboration with OMS.

CIREX

Cirex produces steel components and parts for industrial applications. From beginning (product development) to production, CIREX works and acts as a partner for its customers. For almost all brands in the international car and truck industry, CIREX produces various parts for engines, gearboxes and chassis.

Specialist

Cirex is one of the larger “lost wax” foundries in the world. Jeroen Schabbink (logistics manager) explains: “This enables us to produce components with high dimensional accuracy and complex design. With this method we are able to process specific wishes and requirements in our castings, so real custom made work is delivered. ”

EDI and automotive

In the automotive industry EDI is common for years. Schabbink: “If you want to do business as a company with important players in this segment, EDI is a requirement.” CIREX started, with the help of OMS, with EDI many years ago. At first to be able to process orders, order confirmations and delivery notes quickly and error-free, and receive them directly from the ERP system. Recently, digital invoicing has been added.

Collaboration with OMS

About the collaboration with OMS, which has been running for many years, Jeroen Schabbink says: “The communication with the consultants is good. They respond very quickly. “CIREX started with ODEX as an EDI solution. Later on they switched to EDI-Cloud. “Because there are so many flavors of ERP software, it is quite a challenge to convert the right data from all those systems, so that they end up well in the systems of the other party. This is easier with the Cloud solution “DINET”, according to Jeroen Schabbink.

OMS International offers good quality and continuity through various EDI support agreements. CIREX uses Managed Services. The objective of Managed Services is to release CIREX in the field of EDI messaging. The functional and technical management of the EDI environment is transferred to OMS International at an fixed amount per month. Managed Services leads to higher efficiency and continuity and a more predictable cost pattern for CIREX. Every day OMS International monitors the EDI messages, in case any malfunctions occurs these are immediately resolved.

Future

Integration in the supply chain by linking systems of various companies together creates opportunities. Think of linking logistics service providers, sending digital invoices and / or digital exchanging of, for example, Autocad files. Besides that a higher level of customer service also attracts new customers and increases the volume of orders from existing customers.

“Working with EDI gives us more insight” says Jeroen Schabbink. “The invoicing process is fully automated with E-invoicing. You know exactly where you stand. Although it was seen and experienced as a ‘must’ in the beginning, we now also see its benefits.”
